How ironic, that just days after I impulse buy some Eagle Pencil packaging from the 30s, a package should arrive from my friend Linda, with some more recent Eagle Pencil packaging!

There's no printed date on this one... but I'm going to estimate... 1968-1976?

Very interesting to see the evolution.

A while back, I had the pleasure of designing an 'ampersand' themed print for Fifty Five Hi's, along with 9 other designers, many of whom I know and admire. They were all packaged together and sold as a set, and I highly recommend you pick one up to check out the killer designs, all hand printed.

Here are some shots of my poster, 'Vertically Integrated Ampersand Factory'.

I have been enamored with the Brunswick branding for the past few months. Found this 'Professional Billiard Chalk' box in an antiques store earlier, and fell in love. What a great logotype. A perfect example of something that could have been ugly, taken one step further.

I cannot tell you how deliriously happy I am to own this thing.

I saw a few photos of some Eagle Pencil packaging on flickr a while back, and was very impressed. In an antique store earlier, I found a goldmine of Eagle stuff (they had 4 of these boxes, and the actual pencils themselves were inside smaller boxes sold separately).
Gold ink... custom type... what a masterpiece. Dated 1936!

If your individual packaging pieces are being sold in stores 76 years later, I think you did well on the design ;-)
